Karen Annis, M.D.

Dr. Annis is an internal medicine physician with LewisGale Physicians. She received a B.A. in History/Art History from Hollins University and received her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency. In her free time she enjoys running, hiking and gardening.

Robert A. Archer

Mr. Archer is President of Blue Ridge Beverage Company, Inc. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and is active in the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Commission and the Virginia Competition Council. He enjoys traveling and photography.

Estelle Avner

Ms. Avner is the Executive Director of the Bradley Free Clinic. She graduated from Keystone College in LaPlume, Pennsylvania and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Roanoke. In her free time she enjoys hiking, cooking and nurturing family and friends.

Tammy Finley

Ms. Finley is the senior vice president for Human Resources at Advance Auto Parts. Prior to joining Advance in 1998, she was a labor and employment attorney with The Center for Employment Law, PC. She received her law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary, and her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech. She also serves on several other boards including Downtown Roanoke, Inc.; Virginia Western Community College Educational Foundation, Inc.; and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

Lisa Dressler Garst

Lisa is co-owner of Sterling Engineering Solutions, an engineering sales and service firm in Salem, VA. She is currently serving her second term on Salem City Council. Lisa is chair of the Partnership for a Livable Roanoke Valley and commissioner on the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission. She serves on the City of Salem’s Economic Development, Dog Park and Comprehensive Plan Committees. She represents Salem on the Roanoke Valley Greenway Commission and the Virginia Municipal League’s Environmental Policy Committee. Lisa also serves on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Salem and is an active member of Salem Presbyterian Church.

Lisa is married to Reid Garst II. They have one daughter, Ashby, and Cookie, a border collie mix, and Mango, a yellow lab.

Victor E. Giovanetti, FACHE

Mr. Giovanetti is the President of LewisGale Regional Health System. He received a B.S. in business from Berry College and an M.B.A from the University of Dallas. He is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Nelson Greene, M.D.

Dr. Greene is a pulmonologist with LewisGale Physicians. He graduated from Virginia Tech, received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. He also completed a Pulmonary/Critical Care residency at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. Dr. Greene is affiliated with the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

David Killeen, D.O.

Dr. Killeen is a Pulmonary/Critical Care Physician with LewisGale Physicians. He received his medical degree from Wake Forest University/Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He is affiliated with the American College of Chest Physicians, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Osteopathic Assocation.

Denise (Dee) Phlegar King

Ms. King recently opened her own business - Land Records Research - where she performs commercial and litigation land record research for attorneys and law firms. She received a B.A. from Radford University. She is active in several groups, some of which include the Salem/Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce, the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce, the American Cancer Society and the Women's Professional Leadership Network.

Lawrence K. Monahan, M.D.

Dr. Monahan, an internal medicine physician, founded Jefferson Internal Medicine Associates in 1980, where he serves as president. He is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine as well as the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians.

Joseph Nelson, M.D.

Dr. Nelson is a member of the practice of Valley Gastroenterology. His education includes Wake Forest University - Bowman Gray School of Medicine, University of Virginia Medical Program, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, and Hampden-Sydney College. In his free time he enjoys snow skiing, camping, backpacking, tennis and rugby.

Vashist Nobbee, M.D.

Dr. Nobbee is an internist with LewisGale Physicians. He attended the University of Virginia and his professional associations include the American College of Physicians, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Medical Association.

Charlie Osterhoudt

Mr. Osterhoudt is an attorney at Osterhoudt, Prillaman, Natt, Helschler, Yost, Maxwell & Ferguson, PLC. He received his undergrad and law degrees from the University of Virginia and is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association and the Salem/Roanoke County Bar Association. In his free time he enjoys bicycling and hiking.

Edwin Polverino, D.O.

Edwin Polverino, D.O., is President/Physician at Primary Care Associates and Assistant Professor at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Florida and his medical degree from Southeastern University of Health Sciences. He completed a family practice residency at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association.

Robert Sandel, Ed.D.

Dr. Sandel is President of Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke. His undergraduate studies were at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He received a Master’s in Education/Business at South Carolina State College and a Ed.D. in Education/Business from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Sandel is involved with the Business Coalition, the Business Environmental Coalition, Friendship Manor, the NewVa Corridor Technology Council, Total Action Against Poverty, Trane Advisory Council, Rotary, Shenandoah Club, Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce, Roanoke Higher Education Authority and Building Children's Futures. In his free time, he enjoys stamp collecting, tennis and traveling.

Joe C. Thomas (member emeritus)

Mr. Thomas is a contractor with Thomas Brothers Limited. He attended college at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
