LewisGale Hospital Alleghany, in partnership with the Southwest Virginia Area Health Education Center and the Alleghany Foundation, will be offering the Youth Volunteers in Partnership Program (VIP) again this summer. The VIP Program, also known as the Teen Volunteer Program, is designed for students 14 - 18 years of age who are interested in volunteering at the hospital and learning more about careers in the health and medical field.
The VIP Program will run from June 13 to August 3. Each participant is required to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours over the course of the program. In addition to gaining volunteer experience at the hospital, students will have the opportunity to develop and participate in community service projects and learn more about college admission and financial aid requirements. Students who volunteer for two years are eligible to apply for the LGHA Volunteer Auxiliary's $1,000 scholarship.
Interested students must be enrolled at Alleghany High School, Covington High School, or Bath County High School, and submit a completed application. An orientation session has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 13 at 9 a.m. at LewisGale Hospital Alleghany. More information on the program and applications can be obtained by contacting the hospital's volunteer office at 540-862-6212.
