Low Moor, VA, December 2013 – LewisGale Hospital Alleghany is on a holiday mission to help those most in need in our community during this holiday season. The hospital has several fundraisers planned including a bake sale, basket raffle, and a clothing and book drive.
“Serving the needs of the community is what our hospital is all about and the holiday season gives us another opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the patients we serve,” said Greg Madsen, CEO, LewisGale Hospital Alleghany. “Over the past 11 years, we’ve raised more than $17,000 for local charities. With the public’s support we can make this holiday season a little brighter for even more people in our community.”
The Bake Sale and Basket Raffle will be held Friday, December 6, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. in conference room B. This year the hospital has chosen to support the League of Older Americans and two food pantries with the money that is raised. LewisGale will also be collecting clothing and toys for the 13 Angel Tree children as well as books and pajamas for children through Christmas Mother.
“Our nursing and ancillary departments have put lots of love into baking goodies and creating unique baskets,” said Mary Asma, Nursing Supervisor. “It’s great to lead a group of people who care so much about their community.”
The hospital has supported many organizations over the years including The American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Safe Homes, Resource Mothers, The Free Clinic, Mountain Regional Hospital Volunteers, Blue Ridge Cancer Volunteers, Hunters for the Hungry, The Snack Pack Program and the Radar bus.
