The annual awards competition recognizes LewisGale employees for submitting ideas in three categories – quality and safety, service excellence, and operating efficiency.

In the Quality and Safety category, Tabatha Norman, R.N., Quality Department Director, won for her “Core Measure Worksheet” idea. In second place, Lori Caudill, R.N., CTL, Medical Surgical Department, won for her “Pharmacy Required Peaks & Troughs” idea.

In the Service Excellence category, Terri Stuart, Medical Staff Coordinator in the Risk Department, won first place for the “End of Life Care” project suggestion. Christy Smith, Office Coordinator in the Engineering Department, won second place for the “Dining Patio Added to Cafeteria” project suggestion.

In the Operating Efficiency category, Bessie Tickle, CDI in the Risk Department, won for the “CDI In-Depth Review of DRG Discrepancies” idea. In second place, John Thacker, Controller, Accounting Department, won for his “Standardization of Pricing” project.

“Each of these employees should be proud of the ideas and suggested improvements they submitted,” said LewisGale Hospital Pulaski CEO Mark Nichols. “Their innovative, out-of-the-box thinking promises important improvements for both the hospital and our patients.”

Each of the three first-place winners received a $1,000 award and now moves on to the next level of competition where the leadership team at HCA’s Capital Division will review each winning submission and then choose a division winner in each category. Those winners then move on to compete at the corporate level.
