Advanced Wound Center Technology
The Advanced Wound Center offers the area’s most advanced technology in the treatment of chronic wounds including:
- Doppler technology and transcutaneous oxygen monitoring which allows vascular lab specialists to assist physicians in assessing both the circulation and the amount of oxygen available to surrounding tissue. Arteriography is also available when necessary.
- Complete medical evaluation and individualized wound care assessment using digital photography to monitor progress of healing.
- Dressing regimens following the principles of moist wound care and using advanced technologies like the V.A.C. (Vacuum-Assisted Closure) device, topical growth factors, and multilayer compression wraps.
- Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) therapy. HBO therapy is a treatment that combines an oxygen-enriched atmosphere with high pressure to increase the oxygen in the blood plasma. HBO therapy enhances the ability of white blood cells to fight infection and stimulates the growth of new blood vessels that can permanently restore normal oxygen metabolism to affected tissues.
Patients are treated in an enclosed pressure chamber which maintains an atmosphere of 100 percent oxygen. For the patient’s comfort, the chamber offers an intercom for communication, low interior and exterior noise levels, and redundant safety systems. Conditions such as carbon monoxide poisoning, air embolism, decompression sickness, and pre-operative tissue oxygenation also can be effectively managed by HBO therapy.
- Interdisciplinary case management, including the collaboration of physicians, nursing, rehabilitation services, social services, home health care, and other professional resources for ongoing care of the patient.
- Ostomy services
- Prevention and education programs targeted at high-risk populations.
