The Heart Center recently completed a major renovation, including the installation of the first of two new catheterization lab systems. Our newest system is manufactured by Philips Medical Systems, the market-proven leader in medical imaging for cardiac catheterization labs. These systems will allow your cardiologist to take advantage of the many new innovations available for the treatment of coronary artery disease. You can be sure that at LewisGale Medical Center, we are changing the face of our cardiology programs to better serve you and your loved ones.
Diagnostic Catheterization is the most frequently used diagnostic procedure performed by our cardiologists in the detection of coronary artery disease. This test measures blood pressure, oxygen level in the blood and provides information about the pumping ability of the heart muscle.
There are also a number of cardiac vascular and electrophysiology studies that may be used by your physician that will allow him or her to determine if you have coronary artery disease and to decide on the treatment option that is best for you.
