Pulaski, VA (May 16, 2018) - LewisGale Hospital Pulaski has received two national awards for excellence through Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive physician and hospital information. As the recipient of the Healthgrades 2018 Patient Safety Excellence Award the hospital has prevented the occurrence of serious, potentially avoidable complications for patients during hospital stays.

This distinction places LewisGale Hospital Pulaski among the top 10 percent of all short-term acute care hospitals reporting patient safety data for its excellent performance as measured by objective outcomes (risk-adjusted patient safety indicator rates) for 13 patient safety indicators defined by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). “The care and safety of each patient who walks through our doors is our foremost priority. To see us recognized among the top hospitals across the nation is truly an honor, according to Sean Pressman, CEO of LewisGale Hospital Pulaski.

In addition to the patient safety award, LewisGale Hospital Pulaski was also recognized as a Five-Star Recipient for Treatment of a Heart Attack. Patients treated at hospitals receiving a 5-star rating have a lower risk of mortality or for experiencing complications when compared to hospitals with lower rankings. “Our ED physicians and nurses are the best around as they respond rapidly and demonstrate a great passion for managing heart attacks, strokes and other emergent conditions. This translates to this community being safer and patients having better outcomes, Pressman said.
