Low Moor, VA, February 2015 – Last month, LewisGale Hospital Alleghany presented four local charities each with a check for more than $600, the proceeds from its annual Christmas Bake Sale and Basket Raffle. The organizations included the Covington Food Pantry, the Clifton Forge Food Pantry, the Blue Ridge Cancer Center Volunteers and the Shenandoah Autism Center.
In the past 12 years, the hospital has donated more than $30,000 to various organizations through this fundraiser. Over the years the event has continued to grow. This year every department in the hospital participated as well one of the physician offices. They donated creative baskets, movie night packages, wreaths, and quilts for the raffle or silent auction. A number of employees also made homemade treats including fudge, cookies, pies, cakes and bread.
“Our commitment to care for our community extends beyond the hospital’s walls,” said Charlotte Tyson, CEO, LewisGale Hospital Alleghany. “We consider it a vital part of our mission to serve our community and that includes supporting those organizations that make a difference in the lives of our patients every day.”
