Blacksburg, Virginia, July 2015 – LewisGale Hospital Montgomery is once again hosting its nursing career camp for rising junior and senior high school students who are interested in learning about the nursing field. The camp will be held over two days, September 17 and September 19.
The students will explore the different disciplines of nursing such as the registered nurses’ role in obstetrics and oncology, the role of an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the emergency department, and the role of a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) in the operating room.
The camp will also provide the students with the opportunity to work with computerized mannequins in various simulated scenarios at Radford University’s Nursing Simulation Lab.
“This camp is for students who have already expressed an interested in the nursing filed and want to know more and what to do next,” said Diane Gully, B.S.N, R.N. - BC, LewisGale Hospital Montgomery Education Department. “The students will get hands-on experience and will learn more about healthcare in today’s world.”
