Low Moor, VA, July, 2013 – LewisGale Hospital Alleghany recently named Michele Hylton, RN, as its 2013 nurse of the year for her commitment to excellence in nursing.  Michele is a registered nurse with more than 14 years of experience in the field. She currently works on the 3rd floor of the hospital where she cares for pediatric patients, post-surgical patients and patients who need observation, medical stabilization or transitional care.

Michele’s award was announced during LewisGale Hospital Alleghany’s celebration of National Nurses’ Week.  National Nurses’ Week recognizes America’s 3.1 million registered nurses who are committed to saving lives and improving the health of millions of individuals.

“Michelle is a champion for her unit and her patients,” said Robin Broughman, PhD, RN, FACHE, Chief Nursing Officer at the hospital.  “She is always a team player and her patients love her. She is truly deserving of this award”

Michele was nominated by her nursing peers. Over the years, she has been nominated several times for the nurse of the year award and also for the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

In addition to working full time, Michele is also pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
