Low Moor, VA – October 31, 2017 – For the 5th consecutive time, LewisGale Hospital Alleghany has received an “A” from The Leapfrog Group. The grade is awarded based on patient safety measures that have been met and exceeded by the hospital.
The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit healthcare ratings organization just released their new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades today. Their process assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D, or F to hospitals nationwide based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other concerns.
LewisGale Hospital Alleghany was one of 832 awarded an “A” for its commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest standards in the U.S.

Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicity available hospital safety data to assign a grade to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, and fully transparent.
