Accreditation in laboratory services

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) awarded accreditation to the laboratories at LewisGale Medical Center, LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, LewisGale Hospital Pulaski and LewisGale Hospital Alleghany for meeting the highest standards of care. Inspectors examined labs records, quality control procedures, equipment and staff qualifications against stringent criteria.

  • Anatomic pathology—Science of diagnosing diseases based on the appearance of tissues
  • Autopsy—Examination and analysis of a deceased body to determine the cause of death or to detect changes produced by a disease
  • Bone density screeningEnhanced X-ray to measure bone loss
  • Chemistry and therapeutic drug monitoring—Measurement of medication levels in the blood
  • Clinical microscopy—Analysis of non-blood bodily fluids, including urine, semen and stool
