Visiting the ICU

The intensive care unit at LewisGale Hospital Alleghany has open visitation for family and friends to visit their loved ones whenever they choose to. While we do not offer sleeping accommodations, we allow visitors to stay in the patient's room overnight, and we provide recliners in every room.

We ask that guests exhibiting flu-like symptoms refrain from visiting until they have recovered to prevent the spread of germs. Visitors may bring gifts that do not cause allergic reactions to our patients.

Loved ones are called frequently for updates on the patient's condition and ongoing care. Social workers and case managers work closely with family members to assist in the discharge process.
