Intensive care unit at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery

The 10-bed intensive care unit (ICU) at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery treats critically injured and ill patients with expert and compassionate care. We accept lower acuity patients provided there is available space. Our multidisciplinary team includes board-certified intensivists, critical care nurses, case managers, social workers and more. Our patient-to-nurse ratio goal of 2-to-1 means focused care when minutes matter.

Visiting the ICU

The intensive care unit is located on the second floor of LewisGale Hospital Montgomery which can be accessed by entering the main hospital entrance, or any side entrances, and registering at the front desk where staff will direct you to your next steps.

Free parking is located right outside the hospital entrance. We offer open visitation hours, however, visitors arriving after 8 p.m. must use the main entrance since side doors will be locked.

Visitors are welcome to use the waiting room while they rotate turns visiting patients, as only two people are allowed inside patient rooms at a time. We ask that visitors with flu-like symptoms wait until they have recovered before they visit patients in the ICU and for parents to keep children 12 years old or younger at home.

Loved ones are welcome to join interdisciplinary rounds completed every morning at 10am where all attending staff discuss improvements or changes in patient conditions and next steps for ongoing care.

Case managers visit patients daily and regularly keep in touch with family members to create a seamless discharge process.
