LewisGale Hospital Alleghany is a fully accredited Chest Pain Center approved by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC). SCPC’s Chest Pain Center Accreditation process ensures that hospitals meet or exceed an array of stringent criteria and undergo a comprehensive onsite review by a team of accreditation review specialists. Hospitals that receive SCPC Chest Pain Center Accreditation status have achieved a higher level of expertise in caring for patients who present with symptoms of a heart attack. In 2007, LewisGale Hospital Alleghany was the first rural hospital in Virginia to receive chest pain accreditation.

The Joint Commission evaluates the quality and safety of care delivered in over 17,000 health care organizations across the country, and their standards are regarded as the most rigorous in the industry.

LewisGale Hospital Alleghany has been designated as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® for achieving excellence in performance and accountability measures in pneumonia care for four consecutive years (2011 – 2015). The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in America, evaluates the quality and safety of care delivered in over 17,000 health care organizations across the country, and their standards are regarded as the most rigorous in the industry.
Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence
LewisGale Hospital Alleghany received the Patient Safety Excellence Award™ in 2015 and 2016 from Healthgrades, a leading online resource for information about physicians and hospitals in the United States. To be considered for this recognition, hospitals must be evaluated by Healthgrades for its performance in at least 21 of 32 most common procedures and conditions, based on inpatient data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

LewisGale Hospital Alleghany has been recognized by The Leapfrog Group as a Top Hospital for Safety since 2011. An elite distinction awarded to hospitals nationwide for demonstrating excellence in hospital safety and quality, the Leapfrog Top Hospital Award is given to less than seven percent of all eligible hospitals.
