LewisGale Hospital Montgomery has been a designated Magnet® facility since 2009, by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the nation's highest recognition in nursing excellence. Only 7% of hospitals nationwide achieve Magnet distinction. This recognition is based on adherence to Magnet concepts and demonstrated improvement in patient care and quality.

Chest Pain Center

Accredited Chest Pain Center

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery is a fully accredited Chest Pain Center approved by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC). SCPC’s Chest Pain Center Accreditation process ensures that hospitals meet or exceed an array of stringent criteria and undergo a comprehensive onsite review by a team of accreditation review specialists. Hospitals that receive SCPC Chest Pain Center Accreditation status have achieved a higher level of expertise in caring for patients who present with symptoms of a heart attack.

Designated Primary Stroke Center

LewisGale Medical Center is designated as a Primary Stroke Center (PSC) by The Joint Commission in collaboration with The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. PSC’s certification is granted through compliance with stroke education, participation in research, access to advanced imaging technology, demonstration of application and compliance with clinical best practice guidelines.

Recipient of HCA Unit of Distinction Award

In 2015, LewisGale Hospital Montgomery received the HCA Unit of Distinction Award for Medical-Surgical. HCA established this distinction to recognize top performing medical-surgical units as mature performing teams of clinical staff, demonstrating a commitment to professional development, positive patient outcomes and adoption of efficient practices to achieve high performing results.

Baby Friendly Designation

Baby-friendly hospital designation

The Baby-Friendly Hospital designation is a global program that was launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in 1991 to recognize hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother/baby bonding, which enhances patient satisfaction and improves health outcomes. LewisGale Hospital Montgomery received this recognition in 2015 for the successful implementation of the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding program and the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes.

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery received recognition in 2015 by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in America, as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® for achieving excellence in performance and accountability measures in hip and knee surgery and best-practice orthopedic care protocols. The Joint Commission evaluates the quality and safety of care delivered in over 17,000 health care organizations across the country, and their standards are regarded as the most rigorous in the industry.

Recipient of Anthem Blue Cross - Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement

In 2015, LewisGale Hospital Montgomery was selected by Anthem Blue Cross as a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement, part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Hospitals receive this recognition based on demonstrated expertise in total knee and total hip replacement surgeries, resulting in fewer patient complications and hospital readmissions.
